Ubuntu “Gutsy” to include Compiz Fusion

without comments

The Ubuntu board have decided to include Compiz Fusion in the next release of Ubuntu. The compositor/window manager will be enabled by default.

I originally thought this was always going to happen, but according to this release, debate still raged on fairly late in the process.

On one hand I fully appreciated the desire by many Ubuntu users to have Compiz Fusion included but personally, I’ve had many a problem getting it running on my system (whether its the ATI drivers or not I don’t know) hence I also agree with some Ubuntu board members’ concerns that new users may experience trouble (considering it will be enabled by default).

Hopefully future releases of Compiz Fusion will address these concerns.
